I have several reasons for choosing this picture to post today. It is from a photograph of my daughter several years back in a place we love, Kiawah Island, SC. For many summers we would spend a week there with another wonderful family. Each child would bring a friend, we would rent bikes for everyone, stroll the beaches, put our toes in the sand, watch the sun set, cook fabulous dinners, laugh ALOT, and well you get the picture!!! As you walk up the boardwalk to cross over the sand dunes, the view is both breathtaking and relaxing at the same time.
I also just found out about a dear friend losing her father on Sunday at 86 years young. I know she went to Kiawah with her family each summer for many years as well. Her Father loved to play golf with his grandson and son-in-law. So S. S., this one is in memory of your Dad and all your treasured memories of your time with your Dad in Kiawah. Having lost my own dad last year, I know how valuable those treasured memories can be in the days and years ahead! I hope your choice today is to create wonderful memories of those you love to always treasure!

My choice today was to go back to the water. This is the place I feel most at ease. Something about an old, simple row boat that says so much. I wonder, when I see it sitting patiently there in the water, where it has been, who has it carried, the adventures it has been a part of. If only we could learn from "Old Yeller" to sit and wait and be patient and rest. I hope your choice today is patience, one of the hardest lesson in life to learn!

I painted my dad's tractor a few days ago, so I had to complete the scene with a painting of his farm. Today is his birthday so this is in memory of my wonderful and loving dad. Miss you Daddy, but so grateful for treasured memories and so many blessings!

I had such a great time painting bigger! My choice today was to try something on a larger canvas. I LOVED IT!!! Most of my work has been created on a flat panel and I love being able to create a complete painting in a day. But I was ready to move to another challenge. It is fun and funky and I love all the colors. I have so many photographs I have taken over the years of palm trees. They are fascinating to me. No two are alike and are beautiful but can be very messy. I hope you enjoy the view! Thanks for taking the time to check out my paintings. I love when you comment on what you like or don't like! Looking forward to hearing from you!

My Dad's tractor,  oh the memories it brings! My Dad loved his John Deere and spent many days riding on the farm. I think he was probably happiest when he had the whole world blocked out and just enjoying the view from the tractor seat. I have some great photos over the years and thought I would try to capture the beauty in a painting. This is how I choose to remember it. After 60+ years of service it stopped working last year :(   Ironically, my dad passed away only a few months before the tractor died.  I guess they were destined to be together!    I miss them both <3.

Neither my painting or the photograph depict the actual beauty of this amazing place called Mudjin Harbor. My husband and I traveled to the cluster of islands known as Turks and Caicos. We stayed on the most populated island of Providenciales but decided to go exploring one day. After talking to other tourists about the beauty of the other less populated islands nearby, we were off. We took a ferry to North Caicos and had arranged to rent a car for the day. We left early AM and actually saw the sunrise on the ferry!!! Wow! After my husband tried to adjust to the British driving style, everything being opposite from USA, we had the best day and discovered so many unbelievable beaches completely empty of people. Mudjin Harbor, Bambarra Beach, Flamingo Pond are just a few of our exciting stops.

Mudjin Harbor, located on Middle Caicos, is hidden from the road and took a little work to finally get there, but was it ever worth the trouble. It was a very hilly terrain that you could climb and look down on the ocean and harbor.
Blue Horizon Resort has cottages tucked into the hillside overlooking this magnificent view. Can't wait to return and  reserve a cottage there someday. Hope your choice today will be to enjoy the view!

Also wanted to share some exciting news! I was selected as one of the top 3 picks by art critic, Brian Sherwin for the FASO Daily Art Show. Click here to see which painting they picked!!!

On a cold rainy day outside it was great fun to paint a warm beach with beautiful inviting blue water calling me in. I can imagine the sun on my back as I float along in the salt water. I may even have my mask and snorkel checking out the fish below the surface. OK, OK, back to reality! I'm still in the cold but what fun to dream!! Hope your dreams are warm and sunny!!

The best choice I have made lately was to attend a painting workshop with artist Dreama Tolle Perry. (Click her name to see her amazing work!!) She is such a giving teacher and loved learning her techniques. I painted this during her workshop and had such a great time painting with her and our class.

My choice was to paint bigger! I painted this scene in a smaller size (click here to view smaller version) and had so much fun the first time I wanted to try painting it again but larger. I love the peaceful feeling of the boats docked and resting. There is something about the water that is so relaxing! I can feel my stress level plummet anytime I am near the ocean, a lake, a stream or a pool! I think I am dreaming of warm weather and wishing it would get here soon! Hope this will bring you a peaceful and relaxing feeling!
