Preparations for Orange Beach Art Show

Ok, now that I am home and recovered from my trip to Alabama, I thought I would share some of the preparations it took to get there! It was great fun and very successful, but it took many hours of planning. I decided I needed some covers for all my paintings to travel without getting damaged. I bought white felt (it was the cheapest but thick enough to protect) and stitched each side to fit the painting. I then decided to add 2 pieces of ribbon on either side of the opening to tie together. It also makes a great bag to place the paintings in once purchased. It was very easy and kept them all cozy and warm for their trip South!

Orange Beach Festival of Arts 2015

Orange Beach Festival of Arts Show
Orange Beach, AL

Such a beautiful venue for the show
We all make choices in our lives and I am so glad I decided to drive to Orange Beach and participate in the Orange Beach Festival of Arts Show, March 14 &15, 2015. Not only was it a beautiful weekend, I actually got sunburned, I sold lots of paintings over the weekend and had the opportunity to visit with 2 great friends. It reminded me of why I love the South and Alabama so much. The southern hospitality was amazing. So glad this is the choice I made and look forward to next year. Thanks to all those that came by and took home new treasures with them.

Red Kayak Bliss by Josephine Hardison

Beginning a large painting is the best way to spend a snowy day. I can already see it in my head and can't wait to get it all down onto the canvas.

Then, when it is complete and I step back, I can almost feel the sun on my back and feel the sand under my toes. Well, almost.... but then I look outside, see the snow on the ground and it's back to reality! HaHa! My favorite thing to paint when it is cold and snowy......beaches. But then my favorite thing to paint when it's warm and sunny......beaches! What can I say, I love beaches, visiting them or painting them!!!

Oil on Canvas
$450.00

I am so excited to head to Orange Beach in March, so I am  painting all things coastal! I'm painting fish, shrimp, seagulls, boats and even lobsters. Lobsters may not be abundant in Alabama but what fun to have this hanging in your beach home! I can see it in someone's kitchen just waiting for a big pot to fill with lobsters for dinner! Hope I'm invited for dinner, love fresh lobster dipped in a little lemon butter, mmmmm!!! I can feel the butter dripping down my chin, but don't tell anyone, shhh!

Happy Tulips by Josephine Hardison

30" x 30"
Oil on Canvas
$500.00
Click here to view or purchase on my website

Well it is cold and snowy in Kentucky, -15 degrees outside so I paint what I love! And this time it is not a beach, shocking I know but tulips are right up there with beaches!! They don't last long but are fascinating to watch bloom. I love when they first open and all the dark inside is peeking through the flower petals. Can't wait for those Spring bulbs to push up through the ground. Should be soon I HOPE!!
